What are some facts one should know about food hubs like Dominos, Subway, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, etc.?

Pizza Hut

  1. Pizza Hut, KFC & Taco Bells are owned by one company called "Yum Foods"
  2. Pizza Hut was sold by its founders, The Carney Brothers to PepsiCo for a whopping $300,000,000, equal to around $1.2 billion today.
  3. The name Pizza Hut was because of the red hut which is now a rare find.
  4. Donald Trump appeared in Pizza Huts commercials
  5. Pizza Hut was first company to launch online ordering & the site still exists 
  6. Pizza Hut sent a pizza up on a rocket in 2001, and actually delivered an edible pie to the International Space Station (ISS)!

  9. This has to be one of the most bizarre facts on the list. Pizza Hut planned to have their logo engraved on the moon using lasers. However, they had to scrap the plans because the logo would need to be the same size of Texas.
  10. The first Pizza Hut was opened on 31st May, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas. The two brothers, Dan and Frank Carney, launched their first restaurant after borrowing $600 from their mother. The store is still open today, too!
  11. Pizza Hut loves cheese. So much so that it is the largest user of cheese in the world. It is estimated that the chain will used 100 million pounds of cheese in one summer – and will use 300 million pounds over the course of a year.

Domino's

  1. Do you know in how many ways a Domino’s pizza can be cooked? It’s 34 million ways. How much I wish I learn at least one of them!!
  2. There is a lot of driving involved in delivering pizzas. This we all know. But can you guess how much driving? It’s as much as making 41 trips to moon per week. This is only in USA. Uff, I don’t even want to imagine how much it is, if we take entire world into consideration.
  3. Try tracking your pizza order with any other company. You can’t do that. Domino’s is the only restaurant that allows tracking the order by a customer.
  4. The founder of Domino’s was brought up in an orphanage! He always was a troubled kid!

 

  1. Unlike most of the restaurants, who mostly give preference to satisfy your taste buds, subway prefers satisfying your diet chart. Hmm… somebody has to do the right thing after all!
  2. This is not the name of a submarine selling company, dudes! It was the name of our Subway restaurants in the initial stages.
  3. ‘Glutton-free’. I know what came to your mind when you hear this word folks! ‘Depression’. Right? But if we go to subway outlets in Washington State, we get glutton-free sandwiches, which are tasty too! Okay! But, is it possible to write the words, ‘glutton-free’ and ‘tasty’ in the same sentence? Yepp!
  4. If you go to a subway outlet and ask them to show them their entire menu, you would just faint away. Because they have over 37 million options to choose from buddies!! Can you believe it? May be we would just get confused and ask them to bring a PB and J!
  5. If we just start wrapping our planet earth with the sandwiches that subway sells per year, we could go on around the earth for about 14 times. Now, that would be healthy too. What say folks ;)?
  6. Peter Buck, cofounder of Subway, has master's and doctoral degrees in physics from Columbia University.
